| I  the amish.
Spartan, modest and so Christ-like... The amish community forgave the guy who shot ~9 school girls in a Tom Sawyer-style 1 room school house (i think the death toll is 5 right now??) and even invited the murderer's family to attend the funeral. I think they said that "it's the amish way." Meanwhile, one of the critically wounded girls is either soon to be, or already taken off life suport so that she can die at home. She is 6 years old.
What an amazing example they are setting... They said that "the hurt is great, but [we] do not balance the hurt with hate." It's not easy thinking of a greater offense, it was horrific and pure evil. But the amish aren't descending into bitterness or hatred when I wouldn't blame them if they did. They aren't lowering themselves by acting out in retaliation, and that community deserves so much respect/admiration. The world would be a better place if we all followed the "amish way."
